TRINITY - If the number of entries in the 2013 Tampa Bay Parade of Homes is any barometer of the housing industry's relative health, then a strong recovery is well under way.

The Parade of Homes will showcase 113 model houses during its March 2-17 run, organizers said.

This year's triple digit tally is more than double the 51 model homes showcased at the market's bottom in 2010.

The parade boasts the largest number of entries since early 2008 with 132 model homes.

The lineup this year includes 33 builders in 75 communities in Hillsborough, Manatee, Pasco, Pinellas and Polk counties.

The builders will display the latest new-home designs and housing trends, Joe Fontana of Ryland Homes said in a press release as president of Tampa Bay Builders Association.

Judges on a panel of building-industry professionals from across Florida will consider site plan, curb appeal, design, materials, workmanship and more.

Model homes will be open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday throughout the parade.

TBBA's Sales and Marketing Council, which boasts membership of more than 200 sales and marketing professionals, is presenting the Parade of Homes.

Headquartered in Brandon, TBBA is a professional organization serving construction-related businesses in Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties. Members include builders, developers, suppliers, subcontractors, lending institutions, and architectural and engineering firms, among others.
