HUDSON - Step right up, organizers of the Tampa Bay Mini Maker Faire say. The family-oriented showcase is moving to Pasco County this year, the event's second.

Faire organizers chose the Concourse for the 2013 event, to be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, March 23. The Concourse is on S.R. 52, west of the Suncoast Parkway.

The inaugural Mini Maker Faire was held at the University Area Community Center, in Tampa. The event is presented by the nonprofit educational support group Learning is 4 Everyone.

While the Mini Maker Faire concept is still new to a lot of Floridians, it's become a popular social and economic phenomenon across the country, Terri Willingham, the founder and chair of Learning is 4 Everyone, said in an email.

"Essentially, the idea is to celebrate regional do-it-yourself inventiveness and celebrate active production instead of passive consumption," Willingham said.

"From an economic perspective, it's a showcase of local producers of everything from invention to art, and covers every field imaginable, from food to music to rockets."

"We're especially grateful for our Pasco partners — the Concourse, the Pasco County Library System — whose energy and enthusiasm for this event in Pasco is infectious."

Planners have issued a "call for makers" to submit descriptions of exhibits or demonstrations. Individuals, groups, clubs and schools are encouraged to participate.

Makers can submit entries at www.TampaBayMakerFaire.com.

For spectators, advance tickets cost $8 for ages 10 and above through online ordering. Tickets will cost $10 at the gate.
