Pasco man faces DUI charge after pickup hits Clearwater house

A Pasco County man faces a DUI charge after crashing his pickup truck into a Clearwater house and being caught by neighbors as he tried to run away, police said.

Clearwater police said Randall Fowler, 47, of Holiday, lost control of his 2002 Chevrolet pickup Tuesday, driving through a wall and into the living room of a house at 2186 Alemanda Drive, police said.

Fowler then backed the truck out of the house and attempted to flee, police said. But after neighbors arrived and tried to detain him, he tried to run away, police said.

Neighbors caught and detained him at the end of the block until officers arrived, police said.

He was detained by other neighbors at the western end of the block until police arrived.

The crash left a 10-by-8-foot hole that Clearwater rescue crews later repaired.

Fowler was charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an crash.
