Economist to give Pasco economic preview

SAN ANTONIO - Economist William Fruth will speak about the economic directions for Pasco County in 2013 during a Business Development Week 2013 luncheon.Published: January 12, 2013
His speech, "Where Pasco's Economy Can Go," will anchor the Business Development Week Luncheon to be presented Friday, Feb. 1, by the Pasco Economic Development Council and the West Pasco Chamber of Commerce.
Fruth plans to deliver a fast-paced analysis of the local outlook and the best paths for growth, according to Summer Martin, the PEDC's marketing manager and events coordinator.
The president of Palm City-based economic research firm POLICOM Corporation, Fruth was a member of the consulting team that developed Pasco County's new economic development strategic plan, Martin said.
Fruth has evaluated the data for more than 700 local economies in the United States, according to a website biography. He created more than 200 economic and community studies. He has provided presentations and workshops for state or national associations, as well as community forums, in 39 states.
He is a nationally recognized leader in the field of geographic economics and has extensive experience in economic development.
From 1988 to 1995, Fruth was vice president of a major industrial land development company. He directed the development and marketing of a 500-acre corporate park in the West Palm Beach area.
Previously he was president of the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County. He was named Florida's Economic Development Professional of the Year in 1987.
From 1980 to 1984, Fruth was the mayor of Tiffin, Ohio. During this time, he was named one of the "Five Outstanding Young Men in Ohio."
The Feb. 1 BDW luncheon will take place from 11 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Tampa Bay Golf and Country Club, 11500 Old Tampa Bay Drive, San Antonio.
Because of limited seating, advance registration is required no later than Jan. 30. Tickets cost $30 per person for early registration by Jan. 18. Tickets then cost $35 apiece.
