No dime, vote

Sen. John McCain made a statement that Sheldon Adelson's donations to Mitt Romney were coming from Adelson's gambling casinos in foreign countries.

But, whether the donations are from foreign countries or here in the U.S., I am amazed that the religious right hasn't as yet said a word about it being donations from ill-gotten gain.

Often, I have heard that the religious right would not accept lottery winnings, i.e. Powerball, lottery, etc., as a donation because of these winnings would be from ill-gotten gain. Or will they differentiate between direct or indirect ill-gotten gain? Or because Sheldon Adelson is Jewish?

No matter, I won't be donating a dime to Mitt Romney, or my vote.

Perversion of freedom

The Obama administration seems poised to turn our country into a socialist nation. How they feel that is helping the middle class is beyond me.

There seems to be a perversion in the meaning of freedom here. The true middle class views freedom as the opportunity to earn themselves a better life. The Obama policies favor those who view freedom as getting as much as they can for free without having to work for it. These policies also enable those who hold the greatest percentage of wealth to continue ravaging the true middle class for more, more, more.

So, you may wonder how our great country has gotten to this point. Over the last 35 years we have been overwhelmed by uncontrolled illegal immigration, and the number of people on public assistance has skyrocketed. Also, banks, insurance, and other consumer-related industries have grown into monsters that consume anyone who dares to climb the ladder of success. In that time, the true middle class has produced an average of two children, while those lower on the rung have averaged two to three times that much. Do the math, and you'll realize why we are now outnumbered.

The true middle class has become an endangered species, and if the present course of this country is not changed we will become extinct, and no better off than those who make a living of sponging off the government.
