Shelter solution

Regarding the overcrowding problem at the Pasco Animal Services shelter, veterinary clinics could take one cat each from the shelter. They could place the cats in a cage in the clinic waiting rooms, where they would be exposed to heavy traffic by pet lovers, especially those who have just had to euthanize a pet because of illness or ailments related to old age.

In doing so, the vet clinics would bring together a human who has love to give and who needs love with a cat who can do the same.

This would be a continuing community solution. Each animal hospital could streamline the adoption process for a loving pet owner. Each time a cat is adopted the clinic could get another from the shelter.

If 75 percent of Pasco County veterinary clinics participated, several hundred cats' lives would be saved each year.

Doubly wrong

I believe your July 4 editorial attributed an opinion to Chief Justice John Roberts that was really spoken by U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, that the fact that a law is constitutional does not guarantee it is a good idea.

In fact, the Affordable Care Act will be most helpful to many Floridians, and Gov. Rick Scott needs to recognize that it will help many Floridians — but, alas, they are in the wrong earnings bracket.

The federal government will reimburse 100 percent if the state expands its Medicaid program. What part of 100 percent doesn't the governor get?

End the Obamanation

The Constitution says all bills for raising revenue "shall originate in the House of Representatives." Therefore, ObamaCare is unconstitutional on this basis. It originated in the Senate, not the House.

The Supreme Court justices who voted for this Obamanation need to hang their heads in shame; they have wrung the death knell for the Constitution, the United States and the American people.

But there will be hope come Nov. 6. Vote out every progressive Republican and Democrat and replace them with constitutional conservatives.

We the people have had enough.
