A cool breeze from the north is bringing clouds in off the Atlantic and will keep temperatures below average for the holiday week in the Tampa Bay area, forecasters said.

Winds have been blowing out of the north for several days, which is why the areas has seen overcast mornings with cooler than average temperatures, said Leigh Spann, meteorologist for News Channel 8.

"Without as much sunshine as we're used to, it's going to feel a little colder," Spann said.

The cool, moist air is trapped under a layer of warmer air, which is why it warms up in the afternoons once the clouds dissipate, Spann said.

The Tampa area will reach a high of 73 today, 72 on Wednesday and 73 on Thursday, which is Thanksgiving.

Low temperatures will be in the low- to mid-50s all week.

Travelers this week will experience relatively warm temperatures and clear skies through most of the Southeastern United States.

A week front is bringing clouds across the Midwest and a stronger front is bringing wind and snow to the Pacific Northwest.
